About
Welcome to the online occupancy of JWL. I used to worry about my information being online, but have sort of come to expect a lack of privacy on the Internet, so my full name is James Lindenschmidt. This is the center hub of my online presence. I am a musician, a recording engineer, an acoustics consultant, a homebrewer, a thinker, a writer. I am also a husband and a father, and several other things.
I’ve been blogging since I finished college, in the summer of 2002. I often blog about politics, metaphysics, paganism, music, intellectual property, free software (such as Linux), and my HealthQuest.
My most well-known piece of writing is The Virtual Enclosures, which was originally published in The Commoner and was ultimately translated and published in Italian. I haven’t written much over the past several years for a variety of reasons.
Politically, I am very suspicious of the current left/right dual-wing paradigm, mostly because I am very suspicious of capitalism, which is the foundation of our current Republic. While it’s been several years since I actively studied polical theory, I am quite sympathetic to both anarchist theory and autonomous Marxism.
This site contains both of my old blogger blogs (JWLbackup.blogspot.com and JWL.blogspot.com). Unfortunately these blogs were started before Blogger had the categorization feature, and I never used them. I doubt I’ll go back and add categories to each post in a systematic kind of way, but I might update here and there. In the meantime, I’ll be using categories extensively moving forward.
